new rule from RFL.
squad numbers up to 21 players. if use one that is not on the list you lose an interchange as I read it.
is this a way to combat DR?

what happens if a Halifax Player has a squad number greater than 21 as a few do. do we then lose an interchange as well

Swifty,

I suspect you are referring to this news:
--------------------------------------------
RFL could bring in 21-man squads
The Rugby Football League has outlined proposals to introduce 21-man squads in 2020 as part of a major overhaul of the game’s squad list procedures, report League Express.
Clubs will lose an interchange if they draft in a player from outside their 21-man squad for the match, according to League Express.
--------------------------------------------

If so, it makes no difference to DR. Basically we currently have 19-man squads announced 2 days before the game (this includes any DR players), however it is possible to pull extra players on game day due to illness, etc. without any penalties. So the suggested change here is that you have to announce a 21-man squad 2 days before the game, again including DR players and then if you have to pull other players in on game day (for whatever reason) the team will lose an interchange for that game.

Lets face it going on last seasons performance and our squad so far we will be lucky to finish anywhere above 7th this coming season. Sacking off the reserves and then not making the most of a DR agreement would not make much sense. We need to add just for RFF that this still does not mean we agree with the system but where as before if it were sacked off we would be in a stronger position than most teams, now if it gets sacked off we will still be in a similar position to the one now.

You don't have to lay yourselves open to me on the dual reg issue. I hate the system but without it i wouldn't have gone to Toronto.
Yeah I'll continue to take the pizz out of fax fans giving us the fev rhinos sheeite when fax are going down the same route with a club rumoured to be the giants for heavens sake.
Dual reg is here. Its not goung away now unless every club outside SL agrees to it. Is this going to happen? Is it balls.

Aye, we all or most of us hate it but as you say we're stuck with it now, at least in the short term. The game is in a right mess but as long as the pigs at the top table have a trough to dip into nowt's going to change. If we do end up joining with the giants, FFS, I'll personally take a season out. We have after all a trip to Mexico on the horizon for the lads wedding and my brass will go that way rather than watching shuddersfield players turning out in the blue and white hoops.
