We await his second coming, Chuck Hardisty Mk.2

"It does not require many words to speak the truth" Chief Joseph, Nez Perce

Open letter to Terry Matterson/Richard Wright : Fri Aug 14, 2009 11:13 pm
Dear Terry/Richard

I am a Castleford Tigers supporter whose has stuck by this club since the early sixties, when believe me I witnessed some crap performances, but I can say with my hand on my heart I have NEVER, NEVER seen such a spineless, disgusting, disgracefull, clueless, and spirtless display by a group of players purporting to represent Castleford as was apparent at Headingley this evening.

There is an old Yorkshire saying ".. that you cannot polish a turd" and believe me Terry from where I was standing we seemed to have this in spades, in this category.

The players on display (expect for a few expections) were a disgrace to be able state that they were full time professionial players, Johnny (Bostick) Walker would by crying in shame in the pathetic atttempts at some of the players to try and 'apprehend ' their opponents, I refuse to use the word 'tackle'as it would be an affront to the Oxford English Dictionary to use such a disciption.

I would have applauded the side from the field if they had tried, but quite honestly, I have seem more guts spilled in the now defuct abbatoir in Whitwood than was apparent at Headingley.

We are constantly encouraged to support the Tigers in their quest for a pay off postion come the end of the year, but quite honestly after this recent debacle and the Fiona Fiumuiana farce and impending SL inquiry re the Catalans games we are becomming a laughing stock to all and sundry in SL.

We constantly select players in your opinion who are of SL standard and I respect your judgement , but in the last few matches it is apparent they are well below the standard required, yet this is YOUR TEAM.

You have stated in the past that the future of Castleford Tigers RLFC is in its youth, then why do we CONSTANTLY select those who fall into the category above...........I remember in the dim and distant past we select a mainly resreve team to face the NZ tourists , (which included Tawaera Nikau) they lost, but they GAVE EVERTHING and much were a credit to Castleford Tigers RLFC.

In finishing I suppose your are tied to Richards financial constraints, but I suppose the old addage ".....pay peanuts, attract Monkeys" is something we have to live under the auspices of Mr. Wright.

Something needs to change, and I would add this needs to be drastic, a change of policy would not go amiss with regard to recruitment with regards to quality rather than quantity(or favourtism) which is apprent at at the Tigers otherwise after debacles like this evening could see the demise of Castleford as a SL club.

Yours in sport
The Happy Hooker

Mick Gledhill is that you?

Calm down man, some Cas players have played really well this season and have shown real enthusiasm. A great season for Cas, I don't know how you have the nerve to say this after some amazing wins this season after finishing bottom last season.

Work rates from Chase were good, however the rest were poor...really poor!

Even worse than Millenium magic 2008...ought to be a money back to supporters, or wages suspended for players game!!

Agree entirely, imagine being a Bulls or Hull fan these days - then we'd have something to complain about!

Most teams get a tonking at some point in the season. I'm glad it was you and glad it was now, but it seems more like a bad night in an otherwise decent season.

Agreed - no time to lose faith - it's a tough knock to take, but your general progress is good - and the re-bound might be quite refreshing!

This is the 3rd or 4th tonking Cas have got this season, and in a number of games you could see a tonking coming because the team on the whole have god awful defence and Matterson seemingly does nothing about it even though he comments on it weekly.

Added to that the players look unfit and are knackered after 20 minutes also asks the question what's the conditioner doing and what do they do in training, the club is nothing short of a joke at the minute.

last year it seemed that Leeds saved the 2 best 40 minute spells for the benefit of us , don't judge one season on 80 minutes
