Was there much away support?

On TV it sounded like the Hudds fans were there in numbers but the normal away end seemed pretty empty.

About 500 or so i'd say. And they were right below the gantry as well.

Should have been a draw. Dixon's conversion went over.

We were discussing this in Lloret with a couple of friends. Cas have no segregation policy and the away fans tend to assemble in the Princess St stand which is unfortunately right under the TV gantry and therefore the Sky mikes. As a consequence televised games always only pick up the away fans noise because the lazy b*stards can't ever be arsed to mike up the entire ground. I daresay if they stuck a mike in the WRE you'd hear a much more representative noise.

The practical upshot is that a relatively small number of away fans can sound very vocal whenever Cas are on the telly.

I thought our attendance was very good and certainly exceeded 500. I really noticed how we had loads of fans all down the length of the main stand at the end of the game when the players came over

Went to watch you guys tonight again, brilliant game of rugby league and thoroughly enjoyed it! Shame that conversion wasn't given as a draw would have been a fair result!

With not going darn sarf to yesterday, I got my Rugby fix by watching the best game I've seen in Super League this season - your match against Huddersfield.

One thing I noticed in that game and the highlights of the Catalans game last week is the manner in which Cas are playing attacking, inventive and well structured Rugby.
With a new ground (hopefully) on the horizon, while I will personally be sad to say goodbye to Wheldon Road, no doubt Terry Matterson will want some imput in the dimensions of the pitch. At present, Wheldon Road is probably the smallest, tightest pitch in Super League, and in Hudson and Shenton pulling the strings, the team seem to be playing some of the most expansive Rugby in the League this season. With a bigger pitch at the new place, I can only see a bright on-field future for Cas.

That's a very good point.

I've heard it said before in football about the Premiership, that teams often struggle at home, due to the pressures and expectation from their own supporters. There have been times this year when Cas are attacking the Wheldon Road end, that the urgency and panic from the crowd, spreads to the players. Our players have to cope and learn to adapt to that pressure.

Your point about the pitch size is an important one. We seem to be running out of room at the end of moves. The pitch is the same for both teams and can no way be used as an excuse for a defeat, but it will be interesting to see how we perform on the football pitches in the SL this year.
