Given that standards and performances generally speaking in SL this year has been a bit 'ordinary' perhaps there should be a Man Of Pewter award instead of a Man Of Steel?

A sort of consistent performer who gets into the side most weeks but never really does anything of any real note and it take the fans 50 - 60 minutes to notice if he's not playing that week.

For Leeds my vote this year (so far) would probably go to

Ryan Bailey

For Harlequins the other club I watch

'That Guy Who Plays Second Row From Aus But Who's Name I Can't Quite Remember' (could be Williamson)

For Saints Flannery

For Bradford - the whole squad

etc.

I actually had no idea Jamie Thackray was playing for Hull against us a few weeks back until about an hour had passed.

Playing devil's advocate* a little here but could the award be voted for by feckwitted fans whose ignorance of the game prevents their appreciating anything beyond the tries and who are thus incapable of appreciating what many rugby league forwards bring to the game?
