Did they not play in the cup while in Super League? You would think I might have picked up on that at the time. Was there a particular reason for it or were they just not allowing French teams in at that point?

I thought that French teams have only been in since the early 2000s - might be wrong though!

Ah, maybe you're right. I do seem to remember Wigan playing Carcassonne (sic?) in the Cup on TV before Super League days (Wigan stuck 50-odd points on them) but I could be mixed up about when it happened. And it might have been a one-off anyway.
