It's not Tetevano's fault as such, after all we made the offer and it's out poor judgement.
I find this a difficult one because his signing, along with several others, cost this club an absolute fortune and did next to zilch for us on the field. I'd be embarrassed to take so much money off an employer for the amount of value given in return.
Leeds is fantastic with players most of the time, I wasn't keen on us signing Austin as a Wire cast-off at the time, and predictably his ego wasn't matched by his performances. And then he complains about not being paid enough, cheeky sod.
Tetevano cost the club close to a million to employ over 3 years of poor form, bans or injuries. What planet are people on? He is up there with the worst-value signings in the club's history. He got paid an absolute fortune for 3 years for very little positive impact on the field.
Some players, most of whom have never had a proper job, just feel entitled and have constant beefs against clubs.
Now that's not to say GH isn't too tight at times, we all know his reputation and you can see it in our signings strategy over many years. I don't now enough about the actual circumstances here but I do know Austin is a very talented player with a history of falling out with every club he's been at pretty much.
Tetevano was absolute crap all things considered. Glad he’s gone.
When I saw this thread I knew you’d be the one sticking up for smith given you are his biggest cheerleader
I wasn’t wrong lol
I’ve not stuck up for Smith in this particular ‘debate’.
You do realise it’s perfectly possible for Austin to be a bit of a bellend and also Smith to have been in the wrong, the two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Rest easy lads, as none of us were there or have a clue what actually went on, we just don't know...
I'm sure Austin is OK on the whole as a bloke, but I never really rated him as a player for his lack of consistency and his big head. Caused issues most clubs he went to as far as I can tell. Sour grapes.
Blake was treated badly by the Rhinos IMO. To have a young family in a foreign country not knowing if you have a job next year when you were made believe that you had. Mind games from the club. We all know who likes mind games. Look at Konrad and Neme other clubs seem to make the overseas players happier. Saints , Leigh, Salford and Wigan to me appear to have better team spirit.
Probably because they've had more settled team and/ or progress through the academy's together. Look at Saints, they make sure the players personality is going to gel with the group and if they'll fit within it mainly by asking their playing squad. Weve got a long way to go but hopefully now on the right track.
It’s old news now, and you’ve probably seen it but I’ve just watched the interview again and read some of his answers to questions people have posted in response.
He’s stated that a slow defensive line is planned, that staying “connected” is the important thing. Can anybody, with hand on heart, say that they find this entertaining to watch? Allowing our opponents to make easy yards down field. It’s fundamentally flawed.
He’s also said that 30% of the pre-season was spent practicing short drop outs.
Also, apparently the half backs are just supposed to be runners, and the play is supposed to go through the 13.
It’s nothing we didn’t know / suspect, but I’m gobsmacked.
