TBH the referee gave a knock on, it was HKR that made the Captain's Challenge. THE VR then looked at the tackle and concluded a penalty without realising that Lewis had already lost possession of the ball. Whilst the VR stated that he was still in possession when the high tackle was made and therefore it was a penalty, I don't think being in possession is required for foul play. That left me wondering whether the VR actually knows the rules.


In this case Kendall was blameless unless you consider he missed the high tackle in the first place.

The RFL show what a cowardly, tinpot association they are every season by choosing to ignore forward passes. It’s why the game remains a laughing stock to certain fans. The RFL know that  if forward passes could be punished by the V.R they would have to rule out a large number of illegal tries, so they stick their heads in the ground like an ostrich and just kid it hasn’t happened. They are happy to scrutinise a potential knock on that may have travelled an inch or so forward , but will let a forward pass that has clearly travelled a yard forward go unpunished. In an ideal world, alongside the V.R checking forward passes, the Captain’s Challenge should include potential forward passes being checked as well. We all know the RFL don’t have the balls like the Rugby Union’s governing body and the appetite to stop foul play though.

I would start Palasia with Smith coming on after 25 minutes or so and maybe play Ackers on the bench instead of Sinfield this time.

Miller's try was surely an example of Rohanball at its finest! I guess the point is that if the team put in the work as Arthur dictates, we earn the right to play that way.


HKR and Peters will be getting worried about who they face if they reach the GF. The Sky pundits compared HKR of this season to Cas in 2017 (on the dominance of the team in the regular competition), but I wonder if the real contrast will come at the 'business end' of the season? I'm not predicting Lewis will 'do a Zak', but rather the end result for the team may well be the same. After all, they were very lucky to get the win over Warrington in the CC. This was the big question hanging over the 2004 Leeds squad, which thankfully they answered in the end.

Maybe not a Zak but he could yet do a Gale.
