Did Bluey miss a trick........... : Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:27 am
............by not playing Worral???

I think so.

Im followinghis comments in yesterdays Yorkshire Sport where he said 'he couldn't get him on'.

Basically he felt he needed more experience out there and he named JJB and Ali as the prefferd ones.

I think he missed a trick, I doubt it would have turned the game either way, but mid second half Leeds desperately needed some fresh legs and an injection of pace. Worral could offer that, he's no slouch.

And Ali was kept well in check all night and JJB could have given away more penalties!!

It's deffo a 17 man game these. And we should have used all playing options.

My underlying feeling is if they are good enough to be in the 17, they should play. Otherwise you handicapping yourself to a team of 16.

And its not as though Worral is an out and out rookie, not years of experience, he could have come on and offered somehing. And it turns out that what was on the pitch didn't turn it round.

Or you could look at it as if Bluey is using experience as a smoke screen. Well he's had no problem playing Ratu or Manning for example......

he missed a trick bringing DB off.

I'm all for rotating the hooker but when he's the best player on the field i feel you need to keep him on.

His Record agasint Smith in the games that count is ok so i'm not too bothered about Fridays result but Watkins and Gibson should be surly wondering why they were not playing.

also while some of the responsiblity does lie on the coach he can't be blammed for the needless penalties given away.

as for Worral - i dont think he's good enough to be honeset!

On this point I disagree.

He has to discipline the team to stick to the game plan.

And these daft penalties are hardly a rare thing, it is our biggest flaw as a team.

Now its the coaches job to quantify this and neutralise the problem.

He hasn't and it looks like a problem that isn't going to go away quickly.

He needs to solve this ASAP. I know he doesn't literally have control of JJb when he gives a daft penalty away, but he has to hit the message home!

it's crippling us and we are our own biggest enemy.

I agree to a point but...

Bluey isnt stupid surley he knows it's a problem so you'de hope he's addressed it, if he has and the players are still giving stupid pens away they should either be dropped or finned in my opinion

that or he isnt addressing it and if thats the case he shouldnt be coaching at the top level.

There appears to be an almighty assumption here that McClennan doesn't punish offenders already.

The option of dropping an errant player isn't really there given the weaknesses in the present squad he has to work with.

no issue with not using the full 17, all the players should be fit enough to 1-2 men down (team in the NRL, dragons? was regularly winning only using 15 players in the first half of the season). if the coach doesn't think its a good move to bring on worrall then fair does, but with this line of thinking. it does make me wonder why on earth he's replacing buderus with diskin at times. seems very much like trying to give them both the same game time, rather then based on how they are playing

Dropped or just not selected?

Neither are part of the first choice seventeen this season so are liable to play only as cover for injury absences.
