I agree with Cala. Make in unnaceptable now and we will never face the possibility of being anything like soccer. The bahaviour of footballers on the pitch is at time laughable, and that filters down to evey level and age group of the game. Football is a more "vocal" game than rugby, but no excuse (David Beckham challenging supporters the other day was truly hilarious).
Refs have to help, they have to tolerate genuine respectful questions and realise guys are pumped with adrenaline and might have the odd laugh or smile here and there, but the players have to shut up and get on with it (like they do most of the time anyway). A ref under less pressure from the players and coaches may actully be able to perform better - then everyone wins.
