If quality is available on a long term basis and it is better ( key word ) than what is presently available, then of course he should be signed.
Would anybody turn down Ingliss and Thurston even if risked upsetting Smith and McGuire ?
I think whilst regret is maybe a bit strong, I think that many would still question the wisdom of his signing.
I agree about improving the squad we should take the opportunity if it arrives, however, as has been pointed out above, signing foreign players is one of the reasons we have a smaller player pool over here
