Iwan Stephens is probably the back up to Walker next season, but he seems to perform better on the wing.

Imo with the doom & gloom predicted by GH its vital our SC is invested in retaining the likes of Newman Walker Walters Holroyd etc. Then if we have money left bring in 1 or 2 signings. Myler Ward L.Sutty Cuthbo all leaving will help id releaae Ctosby asap not Sinfields finest moment but costing money not to play. Id hope we retain Dwyer but sounds like he could be going home to Wigan.

Bateman said he did not think he would be offered another deal with salary cap regulations ( well according to the RL mag I read ) I'm sure Ricky Stuart would have loved to keep him. So I have done my research Mr smart booty !

Say what?? Re read your original post... you said they wouldn’t be that gutted at losing him as they couldn’t fit him in salary cap.. Ricky Stuart was livid and wanted him to stay big time. He had a major go at Batemans manager also. So as I first said.., Canberra are gutted to lose him

Aren't walker and Newman already tied down? Agree re holroyd and muizz who I think are both coming off contract.

JUST signing youngsters is not the way though imo. We need to mix great youth with other older players also of a high calibre and then a small number of genuine star players (players, not names, star names mean FA).

Like most things in life, building a squad is about balance.

We'll never have been in the race for Bateman. Like we won't have been in the race for Graham. In this country plate tend to just go back to their former clubs when returning from Union or the NRL

Just started watching the 2018 season opener at Warrington. Only two years ago but already in that starting 13 were moon, hall, ablett, JJB, singleton, Parcel and Watkins who have all gone. It makes you realise the amount of squad movement we have had in the last couple of seasons not to mention 4 hear coaches in that time (albeit Sinny was temporary).

It's no wonder we have been all at sea and this is why I believe you are unlikely to see a lot of new faces coming in, even if we do lose a few. We will rely on youth to fill the gaps as our first 13 is pretty strong.

This is just pure speculation by myself and going off the players who we have been rumoured to leave and player who have been rumoured to come into us for next season i think our squad could possibly look something like this. The blank numbers could be filled by more Academy players or other singings coming in. I think Dwyer and T.Briscoe will get 1 year extensions out of the players who are off contract and think Ward, Myler, Cuthbertson, Albert, Evans and L.Sutcliffe will be moved on and who knows what will happen with Crosby.
