Gidley and Sandow ripping apart a patched up Cas team at home is no great barometer is it, after all both have had their moments in the almighty NRL.

Anyway, both appear to be just what Warrington needed to spark them and they should be thereabouts this year.

The tackling from both sides was woeful. Ablets try for us on the stroke of half time should never have been scored.
Walsh apart from not tackling him virtually gave him a pat on the back.

How many SL clubs are patched up these days? Weren't Warrington patched up against Leeds in Round 1? A patched up state is perhaps a useful descriptive of SL itself? After all, it doesn't take much for any SL side to be "patched up" given that none of the SL clubs can even operate a reserve grade. SL is arguably only pretending to be a professional competition.

On the topic of Gidley and Sandow, I'm sure they have had their individual NRL moments. The same cannot be said for how their clubs have performed. Sandow never experienced a single play-off finals fixture in his eight seasons of NRL. Gidley's club was more successful but it was a long time ago. They both must be suffering from nose bleeds right now.

They do, hence why I pointed that out. With a touch of perspective of course. Opinion is deliberately blinkered otherwise.

SL is dire at the minute, i can't argue with you there William i havn't watched a game yet where i thought wow that was good quality. I was shaking my head in disbelief at the pish poor tackling on display last night from two teams who would expect and probably will be challenging. Saints had close to a full side too which must be a worry for them that they can't put away a struggling Leeds team, they have dropped away so much in quality and playing style the last decade and the fact they are still in the mix does say a lot.

Anyway, comp is what it is, hopefully things improve in coming months but i have to admit I'm not enjoying SL at the minute and that has nothing to do with Leeds poor start its the entertainment value accross the board.

AGAIN it shows you dont know what your talking about!
The eels needed to get rid of him because they wanted to play a more structured game under Arthur, and Sandow came out to the press and said that if the coach let him play off the cuff he would win more games, little to do with his playing ability.
He has always had the capability to win games on his own but then often drops format certain points in a season, I expect no difference in SL

Kidley in that respect is the perfect foil for Sandow as for the last few years he has been unspectacular but consistant for the knights

Im not saying SL is high quality atm, far from it, but its stupid to say that the form of the Wire halves in indicative of the SL NRL gulf because they played similar down under

agree with this. There were some really poor errors last night from both sides. Leeds worked hard to win it but so much room for improvement.very disjointed. Whilst Leeds have a new Middle which keeps changing, saints are more settled and at times looked much more structured but some awful errors. Thought Galloway and ferres had best games to date. Ferres deserves praise for having played every minute this year

I am continually disappointed by the decline in kolpak stiffs in SL these days. Standards have slipped since the halcyon days of Dom Feaunati and Mark Leafa terrorising defences. We have to accept that homegrown talent isn't good enough and we need to bring in more big islander lads on the fringes of the NRL.

Over 3 years since a post and this is what you come back with

Seems its not only the standards of SL that have declined :(
