we are not at our best right now but we always seem to have a spell, or lull if you will, at some point of the season and up until magic weekend we have been very good.we have built a solid platform in the league, semis in the cup things are looking good.im convinced performances will improve atleast in time for the cup semi.
I think the main thing is we got the result, although the performance was nothing short of abysmal. Credit the Leigh outfit, they put in a great effort and took us all the way, but the fact is Sinfield and Peacock combined are on more a week than the entire Leigh 17, train full time and thus, should have put at least 50 and towards 100 on them, as I'm sure Warrington, Saints and Wigan would.
For my money it suggest McDermott can't get the side up for the lesser games and allowed complacency to creep in.

The lesser games like away at Huddersfield, away at Saints, away at Warrington and Wigan at the Etihad?
I don't think it's got anything to do with "getting the team up" for any game. I reckon it's got do with some players either not liking a physical confrontation or not dealing with it well enough. Because that's what we got in all the games we've not won this season.

Have to agree on that front, think we tend to bottle it when teams get nasty! Our heads seem to go and the handling errors begin to creep in. We've shown in years gone by we can mix it with the best, but so far this season, we've been found wanting in that regard I think.

Agreed. Some of our team wither away and hide. Others like Peacock front up but get drawn into that battle then.
Thaler was awful, really bad. The obstruction rule is a nonsense, its just awful. Why we, as a game, have chosen an interpretation of the obstruction rule which doesnt need there to actually be an obstruction is just idiotic.
We were worse. Appalling performance, if we play like that against Huddersfield they will put 40 or 50 points on us. Most SL sides would have absolutely pumped us. Our completion rates were terrible, basic simple errors, passing was appalling at times, the best use of Watkins is not throwing the ball at his feet.
We had no plan or structure, no build, tried to win it on every play. When we did manage to spread play either stopped with Sutcliffe throwing a dummy and being caught or Delany picking out a brick wall and running in to it.
The very few times we did put even a basic play on we cut through them pretty easily, but again failed to have any kind of second phase whatsoever to finish it. This is a big failing in the squad, we have only Hardaker with pace in the middle (Burrow is taken out of that part of the game playing at dummy half) and he just isnt all that great at the moment from putting himself in those positions. Watkins gets his hand free, or his nose through the line pretty much everytime he hold on to the ball, but he has no-one back on the inside.
I know you have a bit of a love in for the coach Printer. But the way we are playing you don't really think we are better than the likes of Wigan, Saints, Wire,Cas and Giants? The last couple of games each one of those teams with the exception of Huddersfield who we play next have looked pretty good. On the other hand we have looked pish poor Now it might be a blip hence why I said recently. But the way we are playing I can't see us beating the teams I have mentioned. Hopefully Thursday I will be proved wrong and we will be the 5th best team in the league.

To use such a short time frame is ridiculous. Hudds were dismantled by Saints two weeks ago (Saints likewise vs Wire at Magic the week before) and were on for a hiding after the opening 20 vs Wigan last week.....but because they then had a good 60 minutes that means they're a better team than us? Like I said, ridiculous way of looking at things.
Can see where you are coming from Printer. But I really think we are struggling to get any structure going. We should have a few more of our under 19s pushing for a place now similar to Wigan. Not sure how much beatings our current pack can take and with the slowest half backs in SL I cannot see where we can turn it round. like I said maybe Thursday will prove me wrong mate.
