The bile written on here 48 hours (or more, God help us) after a loss or poor performance has only become worse over the years. The tendency for people to resort to petty insults if someone disagrees with them has always been here, but sadly there are fewer sensible people posting to balance all the knee-jerkery.
I get that things have been pretty disappointing since 2015 (despite the GF and CC wins, and the GF run last season), and it has become massively frustrating being a Leeds fan in this period.
A lot of the posters on here badly need to learn patience.
The mess we were in after Brian Mac is behind us, and we've moved on from the dark days of Lowes and Sinfield being in charge.
Richard Agar helped steady the team but he obviously hung around a season too long. While Rohan Smith has performed some pretty major surgery to the squad he inherited from Agar, the spine and the big earners are all Agar selections - Myler, Sezer, Austin, Tetevano, Fusitua, Bentley - plus Leeming whose place in the squad hasn't yet been filled to my knowledge.
For me, Rohan Smith has credit in the bank for the GF run and a run of wins against Saints, Wigan, and Catalans this season. Most importantly, (IMO) he's also put faith in a lot of younger players and we've seen the likes of Holroyd, Gannon, O'Connor and Cameron Smith (etc) really improve under his coaching, which is the kind of development we were definitely *not* seeing under Agar and McDermott.
For some reason the match day 17 don't always seem to be 'up for it' against teams that Leeds would be traditionally expected to beat handsomely, leading to some woeful showings recently. I think this has as much to do with the mentality of the players as anything else. Austin clearly wants to give his all for the team, but there are a lot of other big earners coming out of contract at the end of the season. Clearly having a clutch of senior players back from injury showed against Huddersfield too.
