If you want rid, fancy swapping coaches??

well we are starting with all the defensive effort and attack cohesion of the 2011 and 12 seasons

I do love how people think you either need to be fully against the coach or completely for him
Fans were right to be sick of him in those early seasons (he wouldn't have lasted until the playoffs at saints) and some of the things he does, such as poor interchange policies, not trusting youth players enough, lack of attacking moves and not lighting a fire under the defence as happened today are legitimate concerns

BUT with the trophies we've won and the injuries we've got, he deserves AT LEAST a season before we even start considering asking for a new coach
(unless Trent Robinson want to coach in SL again for some reason  )

In terms of the big trophies he's the most successful in the history of the club. It would take a really poor year this year and next (assuming we don't get relegated) to make GH consider getting rid of him. Even then it would probably be one of those "upstairs" moves (head of rugby?) than actually getting rid.

The club is far more likely to respond to a poor year this year with more changes to the squad, including one or two 'star' signings than get rid of BM.

I agree, no way McDermott will be under much pressure even if we have a bad year and nor should he be. He will have completed his 6th season in charge of Leeds after this year though, a long time in this day and age and he has nothing to prove now as a club coach. How long does a coach go on at one club before he starts to become a bit stale too no matter what success he has had? Bennett will be England head coach until after the WC next year, makes you wonder if the natural progression for Mac is to take over at the end of that. Will be interesting to see if he is brought on board as an assistant by Bennett and the RFL in the coming months.

Does his role with the USA side preclude that?

In a recent interview with Phil Caplan, Phil said Brian Mac would never have been considered for the England job due to ‘political’ reasons and that he is seen as ‘the Brian Clough of Rugby League’.

Thoughts?

Yes, i can see McDermott's first gathering with the england squad now.....

' you Wigan lads..... You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Shaun Wane. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest f'kin dustbin ya can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.'

Though I respect Caplan I cannot understand that. He is the ultimate diplomat in comparison to the great ape.

Think it comes from something McDermott said a few years back in this article

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/f ... nald-mcrae

"He missed out on becoming head coach of the Bradford Bulls and England because he had yet to temper his straightforward approach. "The England interview was the worst in history. I swore a couple of times and I think they were expecting laptop presentations and loads of data. I can do that until the cows come home but that doesn't win you games. I left knowing I'd never get that job but I wouldn't have wanted it if I'd had to be someone other than me. I'd have been in turmoil then."

............

That was pre Leeds though and he has changed a lot really since then.

The only way he'll go is if Sinfield can be persuaded back in player coach role. Otherwise we will continue winning 1 in every or 5 and hope we come through the million pound match
