So when was the last time the Leeds RL team managed to lose seven straight 1st grade matches?

Heard it may have been 1985/86 but I think they were seven (actually eight and nine games) without a win - not quite the same thing.

According to the 2016 Official Handbook:

Most Consecutive Losses:

10 - Nov 24th 1945 - Jan 26th 1946
7 - Aug 25th 1945 - Sep 29th 1945

The only 2 times in the club's history (until tonight )

Thanks for that. Just reading about that season in the Headingley story Volume 1. As Ken Dalby describes -'He (your average Leeds fan) suffered torment as he saw his team languish at the foot of the table and suffer one indignity after another. And yet he understood and knew that it would take time to pick up the threads.'

For 2016's loss of a familiar training base just read WW2.

Something for the lads still to aim for then.

Exactly Tad. Surprised people have not cottoned on to Hetheringtons previous on this yet. No way NcDermott will be in the same role next year.

Problem is if he stays he will still be first team coach - which is the least destructive role he can have in the club.

If you made him Director of rugby and the first team coach had to report into him it would restrict the quality of coach you could get. Him in charge of youth development, let's not go there

I agree with that, which is why I would cut ties. Hetherington has a strange attachment to people though. But he is not an idiot, and he knows the first team coach has to change.

One thing McDermott is very good at, and enjoys, is local community work, and talks with amateur coaches. Perhaps through Leeds foundation, there is another role.

Perhaps because if McDermott goes where is going to go - no top club is going to give him a job so he is basically in the wilderness. I just can't see GH letting that happen
