McDermott is going. I actually think he is more relaxed because of it, and seems to have let the shackles go. He apparently asked to finish the season, and that is what they agreed.

Did he refuse to shake you're hand once or something?

It's because he never played in the snow, in front of 700 fans in Swinton on a Wednesday night.

Winter rugby by plenty.

You are correct in the fact that the gap between Australia and England is big, and was particularly big around the time Sinfield was in his prime. As a Half playing behind a beaten pack on most occasions and far inferior back line to work with, it is always going to be difficult for a player with the skill set of Sinfield to make an impression on games. He is not a maverick who can come up with a wow play from nowhere no matter the game situation like Johnson for NZ.

We all laud the likes of Thurston, Cronk, Lockyer, Johns etc..etc.. and rightly so, they are great players but when their pack is living up to it's billing every time and setting the platform and they have a conveyor belt of superb ATG back options to use it makes things a hell of a lot easier! Put Sinfield in those teams and we would have seen the view of him change imo.

Sinfield wasn't outstanding at international level on the whole, but held his own in a time when we were very poor as a team and The rare occasions we did match up Sinfield was at the fore, the 2009 and 2011 four nations for example where we beat the kiwis to get to both finals he was MOM. and for me, he was very good during the 2013 WC despite you being hyper critical about the end when many other things could be picked out for England's demise in that last few minutes, you forgot to mention he was one of Englands best before that in that very game...the great ball to put Watkins in and the pass to Burgess over the top?

Playing behind a beaten pack on most occasions?

But England's pack is the equal, if not the best pack in the world surely?

It's the backs (in particular, the halfbacks) who aren't up to it, though you do appear to be implying that Sinfield is the exception. There is no evidence to support that view and no amount of MOM awards and Golden Boots from fawning RL publication editors or lickspittle RL journos will alter that.

Sinfield's best performance in an international shirt was in 2001 when he played hooker in the win against an undercooked, holiday-mode, just-stepped-off-the-plane Aussie team whose mindset was elsewhere after the initial tour cancellation. And Sinfield was still outshone by Sculthorpe's efforts.

By all means wax lyrical about Sinfield in Super League, but in an international shirt for GB or England? :NAUGHTY:

Beyond Sculthorpe, Fielden (in his prime), Farrell, Graham and S.Burgess in that order, followed by daylight... I'm struggling to think of any other player during the SL era who has made a more-often-than-not regular international impact against the Aussies.

Anyhow, let's move on from the "Sinny is so lush, innit" derailment and get back on topic..... 8)

WRT the Stadium Redevelopment, it does look like the club have been taking the fans for a ride by offering alternative (and in some cases, more expensive) season ticket options when they've known for quite some time that their redevelopment plans are a non-starter.

"This application has been difficult from the start and on Green Belt issues alone was never going to be granted immediate permission. The Rugby Club have known for some time that this would significantly impact the timing of development of the South stand and would impact all of their season ticket holders for the new Rugby League season."

I don't expect any club sycophants to be aggrieved in the slightest.

I agree those have been the areas we have been found out in down the years and continue to be.

I'm not implying Sinfield to have been a major success on the international stage, clearly he wasn't, but i don't think he was a disaster either as i pointed out various success he had had when the team as a whole was up to it, and you dismissed it predictably as 'Lickspittle' from the media :)

Anyway, i agree on one thing here, back on topic i didn't realise this was the stadium redevelopment thread...as you were 8)

Just for shits and giggles I looked up Sycophants in the opposite dictionary. I got

"blaming, censuring, critical, denouncing, disparaging, insulting, reproachful, unflattering"

Now who is that a good discription of? Give me a minute, it'll come to me

now it looks like they are saying to LCC you want test cricket and the prestige and revenue it brings to the city or don't you?

And you take the p!$$ out of people who make excuses for Leeds efforts last season.
Obviously it's not the excuses they use but the fact they're not as good at it as you are.

Save our green space Tetley Field
This morning we have been advised that the planning application for development on Tetley Field has been withdrawn by the applicant.

We anticipate that the applicant will now await the outcome of the SAP (site allocation process) before deciding next steps.

The applicant has also withdrawn the application for development of Tingley, but will proceed on the 12th of January with the stadium development plans.

Thanks to everyone for your support we will keep you updated with developments as they happen.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year

Not excuses, but reasons.

The Ashes Tour was cancelled in the wake of 9/11

The Aussie players went into off-season, thong-wearing holiday mode .

Then the Ashes Tour was back on...

... but reduced to a very short 19 day tour with fixtures against Bradford, Wigan and St Helens cancelled.

The Aussies were undercooked for that 1st Test.

And it was Sinfield's best game in an international rep shirt by a very huge margin.

I deal in reasons, not excuses.

Pleased to have educated you on the matter.

Seasonal felicitations BTW.
