not sure when it's on, missed the start, but bbc 1 are showing a documentary on motown including a tour of the studio in berry gordys house in detroit where all the artists made there recordings. looked supurb

Not at all after my time

I was 11 years old in '67, just the right age to appreciate the Motown and Stax stuff that was finally being allowed to be openly on sale in the record shops - remember government quotas on "the arts" and the fact that the UK usually lagged 2 years behind the States with the soul stuff unless you knew someone who knew someone who could blag records from "underground" shops ?

Marvin Gaye's "Whats Goin On" album should be required listening for 11 year old now, t'would wean them off the shite they listen to now
