Far too many people over-look o'leary's failure to reach the champions league especially when we were top of the league before his f##king book came out!!

Seth Johnson was worth 7 million at that time, he was one of the best in the country. He wasn't however worth the ridiculous wages that were given to him, which to be fair were not decided by O'Leary.

Nor were they anything like the figures quoted in the press. The idea that any player is involved in negotiations about financial matters in this day and age is quite simply, laughable. He'll come in to sign his contract, that's it. The real nitty gritty would have been carried out by his agent, whilst Seth was still back in Derby.

As for Deidre, some of his signings were plainly wrong. Going out and getting Robbie Fowler when we already had enough strikers springs to mind. He should have been looking at strengthening other areas of the team. However, all he did was say he wanted Player X, Ridsdale and the rest of the board should have been able to say no.

We didn't NEED him imo though and it was just a reaction for failing to sign lampard!!

Playing Ian Harte week in week out and getting Seth Johnson instead of Lampard were 2 of his biggest mistakes.

Apparently Lampard wanted to come but O' Leary thought Johnson was better!

Thats not true either.

Lampard would have cost 11million and O'Leary didn't think he was worth that much.

Johnson costs 7 million and he thought he was worth that, which was correct for a transfer fee. He was the better value, without the benefit of hindsight.

Not defending O'Leary here, he made mistakes, but he is slated for spending too much, now he is slated for spending less on a position.

i knew a couple of the senior players at he time. in one internationals words"o'leary was a clueless pr*ck".
according to eddie gray,who hadn't a good word to say about him, in ireland o'leary is known as jck.as in i'm alright jack.
a nice person of the highest order. why do people think he hasn't had a job after villa? because word gets around and people won't touch him

time has proved johnson was not worth £7m

find it a ridiculous statement that johnson was the better value.
