Of course it is proven now. But at the time I think plenty would have said Johnson at 7 million and Lampard at 11 million, that Johnson was the better value.

Dom Matteo would have been a better left back for a start. Harte was the weakest link in the team and many goals came from him and Kewell both being incapable of defending!

With all the money we did spend we should have brought a better left back in instead of wasting money on other players we didn't need!

We turned down John Arne Riise for 4 Million as we had 'plenty more irons in the fire'. That may not have been O'Learys fault but was highly stupid either way.
