At the time, Johnson seemed like a decent signing, he was on the fringe of the England side, as was Lampard. But FFS, what a mare it turned out to be. Johnson was bobbins pretty much all the way through his Leeds career. Not as much of a mistake as Fowler IMO, who one sumblime hattrick away at Bolton and one superb chip at home to West Ham, was a complete waste of 11 million and god knows how much in wages. IMO of course.

He didn't. I had a link from the old Leeds website with a statement from Risse saying he wanted to come to Leeds but Leeds wouldn't pay what Monaco were asking for him. Leeds backed out of the deal then around nearly a year later Liverpool stumped up the cash Monaco wanted for him!

As said above mate this was a full year before he turned up at Liverpool. We could have been in for him at the time he went to Liverpool as well of course.
