To answer Seth's point about where our cap is going if its so tight but without quality across the park, its clear that the club has made a hash of it. Our first 17 is nothing like as strong as Sts, so some of our players are obviously being paid way over the odds.
Walker staying shouldn't mean we can't strengthen elsewhere. His injury might mean though that until that's sorted we can't loan him out (or write him off if he doesn't recover), so he'll stay on the cap even though the plan is likely to involve him leaving.
I wonder whether an issue with Fusitu'a is that there may have been an assumption he was going to leave. I can't really understand the Olpherts rumour if Fusitu'a was staying, but Olpherts/Handley backed by Tindall and the kid from Leigh might make sense as it gives them a year to develop.
Maybe we've ended up being partial victims of the success we had at the end of the year, with some players who looked happy to leave deciding they'd rather stay?
