Reads like an invite for clubs to bid.

In the past, in similar circumstances, I've read managers saying it would be far better for the player to continue his development here in the first team than go and play for a premier league side's reserves.

This is saying if he stays it'll hold up his career.

Yep. Expect him to be on his way soon. Spurs or Villa for 8m. Will be a sad day but we can't say no to that sort of money in league 1. Whether father xmas will spend any of it on the team remains to be seen..

Its not just whether he's willing to spend its if he can spend.

In theory £8m could buy a whole promotion winning team in League One but how many 'better' players are willing to drop divisions.
