Hearing some big things from my source yesterday, every time he’s been right apart from the Hastings done deal. Saying that us and Saints are in a tug of war for Luke Thompson and they can’t offer enough as us so far because they have signed a kiwi prop. Also that we have approached Andrew Fifita as he expressed wanting to come and play in Super League and Cronulla wanting a reshuffle. Another big one that Wakefield are in serious issues and we have offered to take Tom Johnstone and pay a fee for him. Also Liam Sutcliffe is staying.

Interesting. Wouldn’t want Johnstone he’s too injury prone.

Luke Thompson would be a huge signing, as would Fifita.

Not overly fussed on Johnstone but he is a quality player if he can stay injury free, I’m just not bothered about a huge chunk of salary cap going on a winger when we are OK in that department.

I’m probably in the minority but Id be happy with Sutcliffe staying, he is going really well in the centre position and we don’t know when we’ll get a fully fit Newman back playing.

Id take thompson and fifita or either. Not fussed for another winger with tindall coming through. However I cannot see us signing thompson, bit off putting when he didnt agree to a pay cut after covid.
Fifita would make sense with prior here and also the tonga link with hurrell but I hope he has a thorough medical beforehand with the rumoured knee issues. Would be on a lot of cash too!

Having just resigned Tom Briscoe and Handley in good form, paying big money for a winger does not add up to me. We are now down to 4 props including Holroyd who needs his game time managing. If wakey need coin go for Tanginoa for mine and a quality prop.

Would suggest that James Graham's retirement puts Saints firmly in pole position to secure Thompson services. On the bright side if the rumours of our interest in Thompson and Fifita are true at least we are targeting players of the right quality.
