Don't disagree that 29 is prime age for a prop. My point is that given the way Burgess boys play, in the toughest league in the world, they are not destined to enjoy great longevity in their careers. Sam is finished at 31, George is only 28 but how many games have Wigan got out of him this year? Don't dispute that Tom is a great player, but I don't see him having much mileage in his 30s.

I agree, he is now surpassing his brothers and becoming more technical, he would be a great signing for Leeds and can play more minutes than George. George did say that and we were in for him, but at that specific time on negotiation we had no marquee spots available so Wigan obviously was the choice, I’m glad we missed out on that one, he’s been unlucky with injuries and it’s taking it’s toll on him.

George was/is clearly finished, but Tom has been improving each year, and is probably one of the best props in the game. I can't see him coming here unless he gets thrown on the NRL scrap heap like his brother, which doesn't look like it's going to happen.

would be happy with either Tom Burgess or Luke Thompson! doesnt take up a quota spot too so we could grab a aussie half too

And they’d stick around for a good few years too which is even better. Both would be JP esq signings imo

The luckiest of lucky escapes that one. First and foremost it’s sad to see a lad who has been a fantastic player even struggle to run on the field but we’ve been done over or should I say we’ve done ourselves. It’s no exaggeration to say he looks disabled at the moment and the rumours he needs a hip replacement look more accurate by the game. We gave him 6 weeks off to rest and then rehab it with the physios and he looked in more pain that ever on Friday. The only saving grace for us has been the emergence of guys like Byrne and Havard, the huge improvements Bullock and Partington have made and then the signing of Singleton. It could’ve been a far worse error without those things dropping for us.

Yeah it doesn’t look good for him at all. But at 120+ KG and being as strong as he is by weightlifting I mean, it has to have taken a huge toll. You have an abundance of great forwards and all with youth and time on their side, the future is bright for British forwards.

The difference between him and Tom is noticeable now. Tom went vegan I believe and looks in the best shape of his career. It’s no coincidence he’s playing his best rugby. George on the other hand has come over here simply to prolong his career you feel and that motivation to shed some weight probably isn’t there. As Wiganers I think we’re hoping the rumours of him wanting to head back to Oz are true. The good things they could do with his cap space are plentiful but if I don’t blame the guy if he sits on his huge wage. It’s not his fault Wigan took the plunge.

I just hope we don’t lose too many of those young players as a result.
