I notice on here n also on FB, that when we lose it is always the coach who comes in for flax. There are enough seasoned players within the squad not to mention players with coaching experience ..to realise that the expansive style they were attempting to play in last nights conditions was a no brainer...they should have played it simple..also don't believe they are coached to give away such stupid penalties ..although one involving Parcell ,would not surprise me if he is up for a ban for dangerous tackle...was made worse when someone came in to assist...hope I am wrong..but potentially could be 3 players out for Catalan.
When Bluey left must admit Mac was not on my radar as head coach, n as time gone out have admiration for him..I think he always honest in his assessment of things...plus he is never given credit for his part in the trophies that Rhinos have won. So if there is to be a change would like it to be as others suggested with his record in tact.
I certainly would not wish for Smith to return..been at Wire far too long...was already with us 6 years...it also defeats the object as those saying Mac should go as we need fresh ideas, is hardly going to get it with Tony back at the helm...On Powell, I would reserve judgement to end of this season....IF he fails to lift a trophy with Cas...my view with that squad they could arguably do the treble..but would say maybe 2 trophies..so if he fails then the answer is no as with that squad they should lift them.
If Mac ends up staying then think he should remain as over all coach but stick to his strengths...defence...would like to see to separate coaches added attack n a new kicking coach. ..though I know Mac is happy with Barry Eaton doing that job...think he said in one interview holds record for something ...but we not got a player who could at 40/20..can vary his kicks from off or during the match under pressure....mind it not just the coach..who ever does the kicking duties it is up to the player to spend the extra time practising...How many players have that dedication that Kev had ?
Whoever is the head coach next season, we need investment in players. GH said he upped the size of the squad to cope with injuries...but my view still not sufficient as we still found Mac has had to play number of players out of position n he is not able to play his strongest team...which brings in the argument from other thread of having a reserve team...
