Sadly I think so. He’s been solid in the turnaround but we probably need to do better if we’re going to move forward.
You could almost play McLelland there and at least let him develop. Ideally though I think a real high quality 6 with McLelland still as reserve to cover injury/form.
We have an opportunity to make our pack pretty fearsome if we can sign the right prop. I’m not totally convinced by Mellor yet but there is a solid starting pack in there somewhere with some huge talent waiting to come through.
The outside backs are okay. I’ll be happier when Newman is back, and when Walker is back in form. Other than that our wingers are solid and Hurrell does have the ability to break a game.
So next after prop would be a 6. Get those two right, add an off season to get the coaches into our shape, and the young lads some more training, and we’ll start to look decent.
We could do with making a call on the 6 sooner rather than later if we do change so that we can have the pairing in place early on in pre-season. We shall see.
