Im all for punishing desent but it is so inconsistently punished is frustrating, must be even more frustrating for the players making it a bit of a vicious circle really.

He didn't get sin binned he got marched 10 for laughing at herr gansons penalty award when drew did his ronaldo impression!

I agree it needs stamping out HARD and its the refs that need to take the lead.

I think the pro players are taking a lead from pro coaches having a go publicly at Refs.

It goes back to Millward at Wigan and Saints and more recently to the HKR coach and a few others.

Not much done about it at the time so the players think its OK.

A sharp ban would soon put thinks right IMHO.

thing is you need dialogue with players.it is important to have that bond between players and refs. there is a line you don't cross however and we do that to much

FWIW, I'd like to see the ref speak to the captains before the game, in his room if necessary to set some ground rules in the same way that the ref speaks to boxers before a fight. Let them know what is and isn't allowed and remind them that failing to take notice will not be tolerated. Punish quickly but fairly and you will soon see a change in the behaviour and penalty count.

Can't argue with that as long as the refs then enforce those instructions to BOTH teams!

i think 10mins in the bin is too much of a punishment, with too big an effect on the game for dissent,

dissent could and would be stamped out with better communication between refs and players, its no coincidence Ganson punishes more players for dissent than other refs, and they give him more for a reason, his communication and attitude towards players is appalling for a so-called professional

respect works both ways, refs need to earn it and it will be given, marching them for ten for laughing like he did with ablett was laughable, it made him and his position a joke and would simply be massively counter-productive
