I assume the people who think reintroducing contested scrums into rugby league were not around in the good old days of David Ward and Keith Bridges being sent off together (not for fighting - which would have been acceptable) but for persistent scrum infringements at Post Office Road one foggy day. Rugby league scrums do not have enough players in them to make them stable, should we bring back the wing forwards too while we are at it and do the job right.

I remember the great scrum purge of the early 80's. I remember seeing both hookers being dismissed in the first half of a game by the referee, they walked off arm in arm laughing and joking. Got changed and headed straight to the bar to get drunk. What made it even worse was one of the replacement hookers was also sent off by the referee later on in the game as well.
