Lowes was an absolutely shocking choice to coach the team imo, we needed a fresh start with new ideas when mcdermott left, instead we get his best mate whos been sacked or left under a cloud everywhere he's been. Sinfield as DOR is a good move but with a quality coach working alongside him, not james lowes.

It should have been, and still should be an Aussie. Lowes is not a poor coach at all, but the main point is the issue of moving on and new ideas. Lowes has been too involved in that previously, we need someone completely from the outside. That is the only way to go forward.
Totally agree Lowes has to go as does the conditioning dept. On the field i repeat we need a "Powell eque" cull if that means a tough year to bed the best jnrs & new signings/Coaches in then so be it.

Dont think lowes is a good coach but the rest i agree with. We needed a completely new face with fresh ideas, Lowes is the exact opposite of that. Good coach or bad, he's been around these players alot and its fair to assume he shares a lot of the same ideas as Mcdermott with how often theyv worked together.

Yep, bang on. I'm still hoping there is someone on the radar to take the reigns after the season has ended. I really don't see too much hope running with the set up that has been put in place since Mac was moved on. Like you say Sinfield as DOR is a good thing but it will take time and there needs to be someone proven in the dug out for him to work with and learn from.

I fully agree with you on this. However would a top Aussie coach wish to work under a DOR. Anyone worth their salt will want full control, including recruitment, in which case Sinfield is an expensive supernumerary and possibly GH too.
Not sure this has been thought through well enough and smacks of a panic decision in order to get out of paying BMD anything.
Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

The days where coaches select the players is history - most coaches will have an input but the club will make the decision. Lets face it most players last longer than the coaches.
We need an Aussie coach and conditioner - new ideas new messages new techniques. The NRL is light years ahead of SL in terms of skills, tactics and conditioning.
McDermott will have had a contract that would have needed to be honoured regardless of the circumstances of his departure
