| Did anyone see the Clough documentary on YTV last night? My mate, who supports Man Utd, said to me this morning that after watching it he could see why Leeds sacked Clough.
One thing that was a total mis-match was the interview with Brian and Don on the day Clough was sacked. He ran rings round Don, not that it came as much of a surprise that he was a more gifted speaker.
Oh, and how good was Clough? Was it all really down to Peter Taylor? Without his right-hand man Clough won pretty much nothing, both in his short time at Leeds and after Taylor had gone back to Derby. Of course, the fact Taylor was a failure there hardly lends credence to that particular argument.

Although some people are better suited to be number twos than the main man. Brian Kidd springs to mind.

I watched it. Thought it was quite good. Johnny Giles gave him quite a lot of praise compared to how they portrayed him in the book. Also Giles amde a good point about the 3 people who would have sued successfully were already dead and the book would never have been released had they still been around. Hated it when they kept referring to "Dirty Leeds". We weren't more physical than any of the teams back then but because we were the best teams had to kick us up in the air to beat us and we just gave some back
Said that Clough started drinking heavily after he achieved the 2 European cup wins and he couldn't better that, also when he had the big fallout with Taylor and he died before they could become friends again.
Agreed Taylor probably was the man behind it all though. Was a brilliaant number 2 and Clough didn't acheive much without him

I thought a lot of it was a bit of a white wash, the antidote to the book/film, which portrayed him in a negative light a lot of the time. Saying that, it was still enjoyable.
I agree Giles made some good points; it's interesting to note that his role in the film has been almost written out according to some accounts, they were scared to include him after he won the case after the book came out.
