absolutely. but to be fair a lot of international games are played in this style, mostly cagey affairs especially at the sharp end of tournaments which are decided by elite players and moments of brilliance.
i guess Southgate rightly or wrongly is throwing his eggs in the basket of keeping it tight and hoping the likes of Kane, Sterling, Foden, Grealish can produce that moment when it comes. if it works and it leads to winning the trophy i don't think there will be too many complaining but FWIW i am in the camp of this group of players should be more on the front foot and playing more a premier league full throttle style that would play more to the abundance of attacking talent we do currently have at our disposal.
anyway, sod it england games are crap anyway apart from major tournaments i only watched to see how Kalvin went on. back to proper football tomorrow
