I must be the opposite of a glory supporter I’ve been to more games this and last season (I think I've only missed a couple home and away) than I ever have, I’m either a glutton for punishment or a bad omen for the club
I do think the overall quality has dropped off in the league but it’s still entertaining. Going to the Rugby is my ‘me’ time, I go on my own and it’s a few hours in my week that I can truly forget about stresses of work and other stuff ive got going on, I do truly look forward to going every week even though these days I worry what kind of turd sandwich we will serve up teach week
Me too. Total joke. Funny thing is Leeds losing makes me want to support the club more. 39 years I've watched the club home and away and that isn't changing even if we go down. I will be at St Helen's Sat watching 19s and Anfield Sun.
Stop moaning and support the club because right now the club needs our support more now than at any point since 1996.
Well said. I felt the same each time we went bust. In fact building from rock bottom actually helped get my enthusiasm back for the game. I can't get enough of it now. Those of you that are fed up with it might be better served reconnecting with the grassroots or having a break from the game completely.
I've no doubt everyone's enthusiasm will return when things turn around which they will over next few years
Soon as we are winning again people will come running back.
What a great fan base we have. 8 titles weve won, 3 WCCs and 1st sign of losing and people have lost interest. Just laughable.
Why does it matter if we are winning? That is total glory supporter mentality there Marty, whether you think it isn’t or not. I have been complaining about the game going backwards, and the mess McDermott was doing, long before we stopped winning.
Quality and entertainment is far more important than winning. Some of our best performances over the years have come in defeats.
Watch some past matches pre 2011, and go back to 1990, and try and defend the modern game in comparison.

Sorry but it makes me laugh when people say the game is going backwards. I remember being excited to watch NRL Grand Final DVDs of the great Parramatta team of the 80s. Sterling Kenny Grothe Ella Price etc and when they came the standard was absolutely terrible. See a better standard in League One. The game was so slow and teams played so deep against a modern day team they would lose 30 yards a set.
As a kid I remember the amazing 82 Kangaroos. Truly amazing in their time but if you watch them on YouTube you will fall on the floor laughing at the standard compared to nowadays.
Let's look at the start of SL with teams like Oldham, Workington, PSG, Halifax, Huddersfield, Sheffield in it who was all abysmal. Are you really saying the standard is worse now? I'm afraid you are kidding yourself.
The game is so much quicker than those periods, the players are bigger and stronger than those periods. The standard now is far higher in both SL and the Championship than it was in the days of beating Huddersfield by 60 to 80 points everytime we played them.
If you claim SL is poor in comparison to NRL obviously there is no argument but SL is certainly no worse now than at any point in time. It really isn't.
As for the constant whinging of McDermott, I agree with you totally, but must it said everytime you post? Jesus, move on. McDermott is no longer involved. We need to look forward.

I mean come on Marty, that is just daft, you are better than that. We are not talking in comparison to 60's & 70's Rugby here, we are talking modern rugby. I am unsure what it is you are watching if you seriously believe that the level of the players today is anything close to what it was just 10 years back.
I mean, honestly look at just this year, Saints are miles ahead of everyone else. Look at that Saints side, how many really do you think would get into their 2006 and 2007 side? You might be able to name a couple at most. Christ I bet those sides could come out of retirement now and beat the current one. Look at Leeds in 2007, can you honestly see the likes of Sutcliffe, Handley, Briscoe, Dwyer, Albert, Ferres, Donaldson, Myler, and Lolohea having a sniff at that side. I doubt Merrin would get a look in back in that side.
The game has dwindled massively backwards over the last five years, and the rulers of the game have massively taken their eyes off the ball. I have always maintained I don't agree with the nonsense of not having talented kids coming through, they have just been the same level, but it is what happens with them in Super League that ruins it all. I mentioned McDermott, as I also mentioned Wane, it is these type of coaches that have took the game so far backwards, boring, unimaginative, little skill, and zero entertainment. I further pointed out to highlight the point that it has nothing to do with not winning, as I repeated the same and warned of where the game was going back when we were winning.
Look at Cas, none of those players would have made the good Van der Velde side, or Raper side. We are talking not over 50 years here, but over the last twenty. The game between the early 90's and 2010, was at a different level to what we saw before it, and what we have seen since.
Don't mistake entertainment for who would win. There's no way a 90s team would compete now, or one from the early 2000s. Body shapes are massively different now, with most players being far heavier and more powerful.
The other huge thing is the wrestle. If you watch even our gf wins it was nonexistent in 2004 and gradually crept in over the next few years. A team not good at controlling the ruck would get mullered by one adept at slowing it down. Sadly that's a genie that can't be rebottled.
Back to the coach, I do think we need to select someone based on the style we want to play going forward, and it needs to be someone who can work with a DoR and build confidence in a struggling side.
For me we should just bite the bullet and set course for where we want to be in 2-3 years time now. It would almost (would it?) be better to be relegated but with a clearer purpose and identity, rather than these constant short term panic decisions which will keep us in flux bumbling along the bottom of the pile. We can’t totally rely upon our youth to bail us out - a) they are years off peak and b) any genuinely good ones in today’s market will be targeted by NRL/RU.
We also can’t keep harking back to the past, it’s gone.

We need a coach who is tough but clear. A coach who can fundamentally demonstrate an ability to develop players, and with no fear of age to introduce into first team environment. That coach should be able to motivate players, but also enforce tactics that provides entertainment, whether that be tough defence or skilled attack. He also needs to have no links to whatever we have done in the past, so we can stop banging on about it, and move forward as a club to create a new era.
Relegation wouldn't be a good thing st all so let's not kid ourselves would be.
Jim is absolutely correct we simply have to get the kids through now to build for 3 to 4 years time. I've said this previously a few time.
The only way we will be successful is with the youth and we are strong in that area.
In 4 years time we need the likes of zholroyd Trout Newman Muizz Walters McLelland etc to have close to 100 zsL games and very ready to kick on. That has to start now. Get these lads in along with Walker Mikolaj and Cam Smith a d suddenly weve a strong nucleus to go forward with.
It's the only way.
As for coach it has to somebody who can work with Sinfield and be able to coach under his demands.
