Let's be honest that press conference was an absolute mess. How anyone can see that and not want to give JJB a slap round the chops is beyond me.
JJB and his entire generation of players need to be expunged from the club's current structure.
Constantly banging on about how good things were in his day and how he did things as a player does nothing for the current playing group. He almost openly admits trying to forge them in a mirror of that generation. Just stop it - we need them to find their own direction, stop being compared to the past and approach the sport as it is now not 10 or 20 years ago.
This is the biggest problem at Leeds - none of the senior people have any experience outside of Leeds. The club is limited by the ability of the people at the top. GH has no experience outside of Leeds, Rob Oates the same, JJB the same. It needs fresh ideas and fresh people.
JJB can trying and make a team in his own idiom - hard work commitment all that but he was surrounded by a group of exceptional players who could make things happen when it really mattered. There is simply no substitute for quality. It is what separates the best from the rest. Why is the NRL on a different level to SL because the players are so much better.
Work as hard as you like in training but if you don't have the quality to produce the goods when it really matters it will simply mean you lose by less.
JJB's press conference was a mess - he has been part of the coaching set up for 2 years so you have to point the finger at the coaches for letting the attitude get to where it is and that includes JJB.
