Agreed. Think we'd be well advised to keep our powder dry on this one. It's not like Leeming was first choice hooker anymore, so he hasn't left a major gap, especially when you consider that Johnson is now fit. Better to use the cap space where it will really make an impact (which might be next year) rather than an end up with a player we don't really need.

Hopefully there's another hooker option among the squad. If either O'Connor/Johnson get injured for any time we'll be down to one....

It's worth a shot as if it comes off, it would add even more utility value.


O'Connor wasn't a hooker 12 months ago.

Maybe Bentley, but he doesn't seem as smart a rugby player as O'Connor. Happy to be proved wrong.

Because we have ONE proper centre in the squad.

MacDonald is not a centre.

I would be sceptical with Gildart. Was top draw at Wigan but then believed the hype. Could have something to prove though and would be delighted to be proved wrong!

Not sure that having our two players with the biggest engines - Bentley and O'Connor - spell each other is a good use of resources

Bentley is no 9 and never will be. Smith said some odd things about positions, Gannon in halves etc…. but don’t think he’ll play there unless terrible injury crisis….
