If I've learned anything in my 39 years, it's that you can't run from your problems. Wherever you run to they are sat there waiting for you.

If anything this situation would be a massive red flag as to why not to go.

This is a very real threat and one that could make things even worst for him. If he's a success there then things could be great....but if like most are tipping if he does move to Australia and he doesn't make it then you have to wonder where that leaves him as a person.

We all have to make employment decisions several times during our working lives - sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't. At least if he does go the monies will be sufficient to live a comfortable life whilst he is there

It happened to me, planned a family with my then girlfriend, she got pregnant and after 6 weeks panicked that she wasn't ready. Had a termination against my will and it absolutely tore me apart, I had no rights at all, what I went through I wouldnt wish on anyone and it stays with me to this day.

There's not a lot you can do in that situation though. Would explain why he's gone completely off the rails. Mind you, drink is often the first crutch people go for and it is the worst option you can take.
