Williams is one of the very few rugby union players who excites me when he gets the ball, he has an excellent step and good acceleration. He is a very similar player to Matt Bowen from NQC, except I firmly believe Bowen is a more rounded rugby player.
As for best player in the World, it's hard to cross-over. Richie McCaw is head and shoulders the best union forward in the world, IMO, but I couldn't see a role for him in the Rhinos pack. Equally Jamie Peacock would not be effective in a Union pack

But in the backs, give me Greg Inglis over Shane Williams anyday, and that's at either code.

Gorden Tallis called the Wallabies RU players "The cappuccino cowboys", before throwing down the gauntlet of a match between the 2 codes, Tallis said that he would have been able to raise 1 million aussie dollars at least, and all for charity as well, from the sponsors that would have been interested in such a game
