Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

That's a shame. If you get the chance to review it perhaps you'll see why he's used sparingly by coach McClennan in the centre at this point in his fledgling career.
I'll try and find time later this week.

Is Watkins a winger rather than a centre now?
He was last week yes. He made a really good fist of it. Maybe Mclennan could get him some game time on the wing if he's not ready for the centres, especially if he shows more aplomb on the wing than his team mates. Revolutionary eh?

Yes we still need a centre but Smith is (as he always has) giving 100% to the unfamiliar role.
For this year? Because we're very quietly beating the teams around us and getting ourselves tucked very comfortably in behind Saints, yet again. despite that right centre I keep being told we're so desperately in need of.

Temptation, greets you like your naughty mate,

But one that you could never bring yourself to hate.

I thought that quote deserved it's own thread.

That is all.
I stand by it by the way. it wasn't a criticism of Donald himself (although probably worded that was accidently, but I still maintain if that was on the otherside of the pitch there'd have been no need at all for the video ref.

Not really, if he's a better option than those in front of him but only coach McClennan will be in possession of all the facts needed to make that judgement..

In need of in order to finish second in the WCC? and second to St Helens in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup at home? and second to St Helens (at this point) on the league table?

Perhaps the squad assembled will ultimately be good enough to finish second in the Grand Final also?

Perhaps that will be good enough for some supporters?

It's a shame really that St Helens are also in the same league and ultimately will be the team Leeds' season is likely to be measured against if they get to go the distance this year.

I was talking about this season BTW.

And i didn't criticise them, i simply said saints would come to the fore and win it.

Fair enough.

Snake Eater wrote:
That's not criticism. Saints beat us with decent margins at home, in the CC semi and in the playoffs. They finished top and went 23? games unbeaten. So it was simply a statement of fact at the time that they were better.

Did i get on the teams back and start peeing my pants like some on here earlier on in the season when we were struggling? No.

I saw the two statements above and connected them which I can see from your explanation was my misunderstanding.

at this moment in time i would use watkins as winger rather than a centre. in my humble opinion he is not quite for centre on a regular basis.
i would use him sparingly though, just bring him on gradually.

smith as a centre for me is adequete, no more than that. he makes a good go of it but is not top class there

Watkins probably doesn't have the physical presence to excel at centre yet. One of the last times I saw him play left centre however (boxing day) he gave Tony Martin alot of trouble and looked much more solid in defence. Am I wrong in thinking that playing on a different side makes a difference to players, whether it 'should' or 'shouldn't matter, it certainly does IMO (and I've played centre wing at a decent standard for a while).

Nope. You are the one spot on, and others blinkered.

Hall simply does not have the ability to be a top class winger, with nothing in his armour to suggest otherwise. Potential for future in the pack though. But as a winger he offers no danger what so ever.
