I am with tvoc on this one, he just got full of his own self deluded importance when Tompkins was walking away (as Ganson told him to do) and he put his thumb and said something like, "Ok, no problem" to Ganson. Ganson clearly thought, in his own mind, that this was code along the lines of "f**k off you crap Saints supporting ref".

Could everyone please not mention names and workplaces of referees partners/wifes/boyfriends/whatever too ?

They tend to be a tad sensitive about that sort of thing.
