We have opportunity for next season. We need quota spots and salary cap space to do anything different, and Martin leaving is an opportunity to get someone else who is, in my view, a better fit for what we need/address what we lack.
He's been a very good signing but it's hardly Jamie Peacock leaving us at the peak of his powers is it? Some of you need some time in the sun and a Thai massage.

If it was up to you , Smith would still be in charge

When Peacock was in his prime we had a superb team. Obviously at the moment we haven’t, so losing Martin is a big blow. The present pack of forwards are poor ,so his departure is devastating . Plus it leaves us without a top class goal kicker. It also sends out the message we can’t or aren’t prepared to keep hold of star players. Get someone else? Not many players around with the all round skills of Martin, plus if any come free they are hardly likely to want to join a mid table side packed with no hopers. As for a Thai massage, never had one, had plenty of Thai meals if that’s any consulation.
I think the coffee shops will be fine, I very much doubt he’ll actually move to Hull, I mean you just wouldn’t would you
I once took my wife on a surprise day out. After heading eastwards along the M62 for quite a while she looked decidedly worried, and when we got past Goole she was threatening to throw herself out of the car Her worst fears were unfounded, and I’ve never seen a more relieved person than when we ended up at a little b and b just on the edge of Spurn Point. Rhyse is settled with his family in North Leeds, and your guess that he’ll remain will almost certainly be the case. He’ll have to save the coffee habit for weekends and days off.

I'm gutted that he's gone, especially because he likely won't take a place on the quota next year. I think everybody's reaction to the news is magnified because of the clubs recent record in recruitment. We basically just don't think they'll get it right. On the plus side, that's exactly why Blease was brought to the club to address. He hasn't shown his hand yet, and he might well have some aces up his sleeve. Can't help thinking that we'll be in a far stronger position re recruitment if Arthur stays.

Funny that a great player indeed Peacock but don't remember him at 97% kick rate you seem to sack off any player who decides to move on goal kickers of his standing are like hens teeth he's been a great servant I wish him well just not when he plays the Rhinos.

Just to be clear, and I know how the minds work on here, I'm not OFFERING a Thai massage. Although I do have silky hands.
Devastating? Come on. Martin is a very good player as I've said, but he has very little impact at the line and isn't physically intimidating down the middle. If we don't change the type of player we have, we are not going to be able to do anything different on the pitch are we?

Arthur is worth extra for his pulling power with players I think.
Generally people on here have almost zero commercial awareness. The club does not have bottomless pockets and neither can we breach the cap. Every player has a price, and so does Martin - if the club offered him what they thought was a fair amount and someone else wanted him more, at 32 next year how is it sensible to get in a bidding war for him?
He is good, but he isn't THAT good. He's also not the right body type for what everyone has been screaming out for. Would it have been nice to keep him? Yes. But not at any price.
Also looking at youth, with players like Gannon, Cassell and Lloyd coming through, maybe still Ruan and Butterfield, we are actually quite well stacked into the future. I'd go with the best NRL back rower we can afford on 2 years were it me, get some whack at the line and take some pressure off our front rowers. We need to use a marquee if it's available for either the back rower or the prop (but not make a total disaster of it like we did with Tetevano).

I dont think the quota change is coming in until 2026 so the positive here is we do have another quota space open up
