How do you know he hasn't ? Your mate could have given him a few bob but he's so far either chose not to spend it or something could be pending regarding a cash signing(s)......I'd rather wait & see what transpires before the end of August.

i think he has a bit, but only a bit. do you really think he would have made some of the signings he has if he had money to spend?
he is trying to pad out the squad and spend what bit he has wisely.

As we said last Friday none of the signings he's made so far, apart from maybe the goalie, have got me dreaming of instant promotion upto the PL, you just have to trust his judgement in the transfer market. Apart from Boro no other team in the championship has really spent any coin in that league so far. Most transfers these days are Bosmans or undisclosed so we're no different to the rest of the league. I would sooner have a frugal chairman than a pr1ck like Ridsdale who just about killed us off.

you have to strike a balance. like you i wouldn't want us throwing around stupid money.those days are, thankfully,gone.
however we are, fairly, well off thanks to transfers, crowds and taking other clubs to court for nicking players and coaches.
like you i would hope to see some real quality come in before the start of the season.
if we go with what we have it could be a tough old season

I agree. I think a squad made up of free transfers and loans can do pretty well in this league, but is unlikely to go up. I think a little bit of money then takes a decent team into a good one. I think that in stability terms an attempt at promotion may not be the wisest move, nor is changing a large amount of your squad in between seasons.

Hopefully a good season with a top half finish, then we can move forward the season after.

Yes - it's impressive stuff nonetheless regardless of the parachute payments. BUT with big money comes big pressure to gain promotion. They must be viewing it as 'we don't get out now we could be stuck for a few years'.. hence the big cash spend.

Yeah good point fella. I'm really looking forward to the season.. mid table to top half would be a good season imo. I suppose we should be grateful as things very very nearly could have been a lot worse a few year back..
