We have much more pull than Wire that’s for sure. Our history, size, facilities, major city... brilliant track record with young players. We have it all and then some.

Love your optimism. Would have completejy agreed with you few years back......
We would ask love to get back to that level...

Are you seriously trying to suggest that NRL halves struggle in Superleague? Sezer was great last season and this. Maloney despite being pretty aged, bosses that Catalan team all over the park. There is simply no comparison in ability when comparing British halves with Aussie equivalents. Fourty years of watching GB and England teams get beaten by the Kangaroos has taught me that if nothing else. For what it's worth I hope we do go for Trueman for the reasons that others have pointed out, but he's not at the level of a top class Aussie six yet and maybe never will be.

I'm not suggesting Australian halfbacks aren't as good as their British counterparts. But there's been as many big money flops and disappointments as there have successes. Yes, we don't have any halves as good as the best Australians, but then again, beyond the best Australian halfbacks, the rest of them are decent, but not miles ahead of some of our halves.

On realism! We won't get into bidding war with Warrington. Only one winner there, and they have Powell, can offer a good replacement potentially.
On another note Chris Sandow available. Still only 32....!

Is that 32 stone?

We will off what we think is a fair price. We have out bid clubs before.I remeber the Wigan chairman complaining that we had offered Furner a fortune to sign for Leeds rather than stay at Wigan.

I remember Mellor looking pleasantly surprised at what we offered him too. We do have money where we need it.

Didn`t think I would be saying this but Lee Gaskell has looked good this year and can fill in at FB and in the halves and is a much better option than Sutcliffe will ever be.
Don`t get me wrong I would take Shaun Johnson or possibly Trueman but Gaskell would be a much cheaper option and could do a job for us whilst we spend more money on a prop.

I know what you're saying mate but not for me. I think the investment has to go into the 6 - we haven't had it right since Danny left.

Considering how the side looks for next year and I'm happy with nearly every position except obviously the stand off. I'm concerned about Jack Walker's fitness to rely on him for a full season back next year too.

We could do with another prop but if King steps up AND Holroyd can stay fit AND Prior stays on... we have more talent coming through too. We'd have a good solid set of 4 on rotation there and with Tetevano/Smith out the back.

Agree. Got to spend the cash on six. Another half way option will only lead to halfway house seasons.

You are probably right mate but I was trying to think of who might be available without it breaking the bank.
I too am not convinced Walker will get there for FB and whilst I think Myler is doing a good job at FB he is still a temporary fix for me.
Jake Connor, Warrea Hargraves/George Burgess and Gaskell would do

Yeah a good set of additions! I'm looking at what we have coming off the taxi rank and our pack is looking better than I can ever remember. We'll have five 120kg England or Knights players in there within 2 years, possibly with Prior still and definitely with Tetevano.

I've been banging on about a decent prop for ages but at this stage is does depend on if Holroyd can stay fit; if we retain Prior again; and if King develops further (because he looks pretty handy to me for punch down the middle). Our back row looks over-subscribed if anything and so +1 prop if they are the right quality and I think we're done there, except maybe with question marks over 9 still.

FB is Walker's position but he has to come back fit and stay fit, and it looks a crappy injury he picked up there. We do have a couple of talented lads in the academy here but - maybe a senior pro. Myler is cover I agree with you.

However we do have Myler in there with Walker a 50/50 - what we are absolutely, definitely, limpingly missing is that 6 and I can't see a credible candidate in our system for the foreseeable. We plug that gap and we are off to the races again.

If Trueman is potentially available for next year then we absolutely must be in for him seriously.

If Hurell isn't retained we could go for both Connor and Trueman. It wouldn't surprise if either or both ended up at Headingley.
