I think the style of player we need will depend on whether the board still see Smith as the long term appointment.

If they do, they need to recruit a new fullback in my view. Smith favours a running game, which is why there's so much talk of Handley to FB. If we could sign Dane Laurie from Wests in the off season, I'd let Myler and Sinfield fight it out for the number 7 role for next year. Austin can stay and Sezer can go. Yes Myler isn't the best half in the world, but I'd rather a gun FB than recruiting a gun 7 personally.

Sezer has the ability, even though we've not seen it consistently enough. I'd prefer us to sign someone with equivalent ability who is younger/more durable.

Rumours that we (Hull) have been sniffing around Bentley. All I think about when I hear his name, is ill-discipline, constantly banned. Is that unfair?

Laurie would be a sensational signing.

He's struggled since the clamp down on late hits and contact with the head. Gives his all, but can be a total liability. Plus, I'm not sure if he has the skills or athleticism to adapt his game long-term.
It is easy to forget he's still quite young and TS is definitely the type of coach who could change his game for the better, but I'm sceptical.

We should have cap to sign Lawrie as a one marquee spot and a half back as the other, if Sezer, Tet and Fusitua leave. Agree though, it's about time we had a player who can bring the crowd to it's feet. If we don't, we won't be in the running for silverware.

He is way way better than when he first joined, it's his error rate that is concerning at the moment.

Not so much this year, with banned, but discipline is still very poor, he’s generally been more trouble than he’s worth for us over all.

Newman certainly has an X factor, but as a fan I've almost reached the stage where my expectation is that we'll be without him more games than we're with him. Really hoping he can return over the next few weeks and have an unbroken run till the end of the season.

This year he has curbed his ill discipline but that seems to have led to more missed tackles.
He has the enthusiasm and despite the missed tackles will put in a shift that's for sure.
He can also back up as hooker apparently.

If what I've read is correct hes on 300k Australian dollars .He's well affordable unless another NRL side comes in for him.
