It’s difficult to read too much into what the coach is saying as he knows we are in a hole so can’t really ‘bag’ the players in public. He will already know who he wants to keep for next season, and I’d be a bit disappointed if Ferres is on that list. He’s not the standard we should be aspiring to.

He's precisely what we need, we have the youth in the academy, what we need is some experienced players to bring them along, look at 2003 and 2004 - We had the best youngsters going around but also a lot of experienced players to bring them along, funnily enough Furner being one of them.

We've been soft all season and a player like Joel Thompson would help with that.

On Parcell, personally I hope he does stay.

Hull have been linked to Joel Thompson as well to replace Minichiello and Manu. We are also heavily linked with Alex Glenn from the Broncos. Out of the 2, I would rather have Glenn

Google says Alex has just signed a contract with FC for next season.

With the deadline for letting OOC players approaching, am I right in thinking we only have 3 players OOC at the end of the year?

Brett Ferres, Brad Dwyer & James Donaldson with JJB retiring.

Also Cameron Smith according to the first team squad thread on this site. No detail on Wellington Albert's contract either.

I hope we retain Smith and Dwyer.

I don't see the point in keep in Ferres.

Donaldson might have to make way if we wish to bring better quality players in. Ditto Albert.

JJB is retiring, but I'd be hopeful to see Delaney-style announcements on Cuthbertson, Ablett and maybe even Crosby, depending on their contribution across the rest of the season.

I'd also hope GH can wield the axe a la Hay, Sheridan and Pratt with the likes of Golding, Singleton, and Briscoe junior, although they may all be accommodated in the new reserve team.
