No panic here. I'd like to think there is a plan that's being implemented, and just because it's not all over the media doesn't mean there isn't one. However, I can understand the nervousness given the last few years of recruitment and retention. It may be that the last few years have really been about doing what we can with the limited cap space we have had. Of course, how we got into that position is another question. But we now have oodles of space on the cap. All of which means this off season is massive.
Oodles of space definitely doesn’t guarantee major improvements in the squad. We all know there is luck ++ involved with overseas signings. You can’t just get world class players anymore. Think we also need to do more with what we have. I’m wondering if Newman could be converted to fullback. He is full of energy and often tries too much when he does get the ball, thus gets injured. He’d be far more involved at FB and would be a massive running threat. I personally prefer centres who feed wingers too. Keep Austin and an older organiser at 6 would be ok, to allow Sinfield to come through. So would actually be looking for a good centre, plus keep Fusi if possible. Martin has been a good signing , but think we can do better at centre and we are covered at Second Row. I’d keep Bentley.
Levi at 9 would have been ideal really, shame if doesn’t come off…..
