Well then he shouldn't have signed. It's as simple as that.

But he did sign. That's the point. We committed to him and he committed to us. There's no get out clause, if he'd hurt himself the day after signing and been ruled out for next year we wouldn't have just been able to tear up the contract, so why should he?

Who developed him is utterly irrelevant. What is relevant is we hold his registration and if he leaves we need a first class hooker - as all the rest are under contract elsewhere we are going to have to pay a transfer fee to get one of those. We're in this situation because of him, so his options are to be our hooker or to convince a club who want him to pay a fee for him.

If we just let him go we may as well not bother drawing up contracts at all any more.

That is the point exactly.
If the club doesn't pursue him vigorously what message does that send to any other player/agent/club?
For once the RFL agrees with us on this as should any person with any ounce of ethics.

Re: James Segeyaro : Wed Nov 30, 2016 12:08 pm
If he doesn't want to come back then let him rot for 2 years playing park rugby in wollogong or whatever until his contract ends. If we sell him we'll get jack all and still be without a hooker, we have zero bargaining power.

Can't have players committing to 2 years then backing out on the eve of the season, it's a joke.

If it's a choice between playing park rugby for 2 years and seeing your career slide into oblivion he'll eventually come crawling back to make sure he get's an nrl deal at the end of the 2 years,

Segeyaro is the ideal scapegoat for a CEO and a club that has well and truly lost its way in recent times.

If the CEO and club can keep running and spinning the Segeyaro issue well into next season whilst getting all the sheeples (fans) onside, it'll be a job well done.

Rubbish player recruitment, poor management, poor coaching, awful academy production line, embarrassing withdrawal from council planning meetings and stadium redevelopment, extracting the urine from the fanbase by flogging them season tickets they didn't need or want... all can be quietly brushed under the carpet.

Now repeat after me...

SEGEYARO - BOOOOOOOOOOO! HISSSSSS! B&@!4£#!!!

yes this time its fair comment

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

So easy in your black and white world - unfortunately the world is mostly grey.

If we make a mistake about a job what do we do we go and find another one. When you hand your notice in what invariably happens - yes the company suggests its pointless you being somewhere you don't want to be and lets you go.

Leeds were desperate - the idea that Leeds had lots of options that were binned because of this signing is rubbish - if Segayaro hadn't signed Leeds would have been looking at another Falloon. No wonder GH was so desperate to get him signed up - he had no other options - just at the time he was telling everyone the SS was going to be knocked down and they better get their season tickets sorted sharpish!!!

So you think its fine for him to just walk away?

Would it have been okay if we decided to get rid of him if someone like Robbie Farah became available? Obviously not, and he could have taken us to court for breech of contract.

I know you like pointlessly starting argument, but actually think about what you are saying.

If you quit an office job, your notice will usually be less than a month as thats how long it takes for them to find a replacement.
How long do you think it will take Leeds to find a a replacement starting hooker of suitable quality? Probably not until mid-season next year.

How long has Hardaker got left on his Leeds contract? Club's can get rid of players if they want and GH is as good as any.

What do players get from clubs? Wages, and Hardaker's wages will be the same as they were at Leeds (we may still be paying a portion of them), and by all accounts he decided which club he went to as Huddersfield seem to have put in a bid for him.

What do clubs get from players?- their performance on the field, and if Segeyaro leaves for nothing, we don't receive any of the service we signed the contract for.

They are clearly not the same thing.
The equivalent would be if we decided to stop paying Hardaker's wages and told him to look elsewhere, where he could end up being paid a lot less that he was at Leeds, given his 2016 form.
