Given the choice between Gale or Hastings, at this moment in time Hastings is the better option. Younger and doesn’t have the massive question mark that Gale does considering the injury he’s had. But, and it’s a big BUT that you don’t agree with - a fully-fit Luke Gale is head and shoulders above anything I’ve seen from Jackson Hastings.
PS - I’m not massively into statistics are there is more to the game, but I’d love to see some kind of evidence that Leeds had two half backs 27.9m times better than Gale. Is that borne out by any kind of evidence that would usually be give an indication as to the quality of a half back (try assists?). However, there’s one stat that counts. Grand final rings. And in that respect, Galey has as many as I do.
Walker, Briscoe, Hurrell, Handley, Myler, Singleton, Merrin, Ward, Dwyer, Sutcliffe, Crosby, Peteru, Oledzki, Smith, McLelland, Briscoe, Newman, Sutcliffe, Waite-Pullan, Holroyd, Trout, Johnson, Dupree, Mustapha, Seumanufagai are the players I expect to be part of the squad in 2020, along with new signings and a number of youngsters.
That’s a start but it’s already heavy with young players, without some serious quality in that list looks like it will struggle to stay up
There will also be a couple of older players who refuse to accept the inevitable and want to 'fight for their place'. Just like Josh Walters said every year for 3 years.
If it starts next year the reserve team could be quite interesting...
If its true we are in for Hastings, gale and Maloney. Hastings would be far and away my choice, would hate to see him in a Wigan Shirt. Maloney is class but older and a penalty machine, Gale is good but more a question of right club at right time for him, and major injuries. Hastings real classic half back young and best days to come. Could be the most significant signing since Iestyn

I suspect that either Leeds are covering their bases with the rumours about all three players doing the rounds, or they are using it as a negotiation tactic for getting the best terms with the preferred candidate.
As for Iestyn - perhaps, if you mean a half-back that has a major transformative impact on the team.
As a general signing, will Hastings be as big as the likes of Senior, Lauitiiti, Ellis, Webb, Peacock, Buderus etc? Time will tell, assuming he signs etc.
I hope it isn't Gale. Sure he's a good player and will be much better than what we already have, but I don't like his on-field persona - too cocky. Another half-back with a smaller frame alongside Myler will surely be targeted defensively. I prefer Hastings.

This mirrors my thoughts exactly. Don't think I want to see that ridiculous posturing and strutting around nonsense in a Leeds shirt personally. No doubt bags of ability (albeit with question marks about hiding in the big games) but his cockiness has really boiled my p!ss in recent seasons so would really struggle to see him playing for us

Apart from one video of his fannying about I'm not sure what the problem is. He didn't go around tripping people up, headbutting players or assaulting students. Any decent scrum half has a bit of self-confidence about them. Danny McGuire certainly did/has.
[watching Mackay testing the curry in the prison kitchens] Fletcher: Course, he sees 'imself as an authority on curry, he does, on account of where he was stationed in the army. Rudge: Where? India? Fletcher: No, Bradford.
