| Quote BrisbaneRhino="BrisbaneRhino"Parcell isn't either is he? Lunt's a smart hooker - even if his legs aren't there that might be more beneficial to a team with zero out of halfback than someone who can scoot.
Replacing Parcell with a British player generally makes sense if we want to get Joel Thompson and Hastings. I'd imagine we need to lose one more current overseas player as well as Parcell to accommodate both?'"
I'm not slating Lunt, just saying he isn't going to be our hooker for the next ten years so if we sign aging players there needs to be a plan of what comes next.

| This deal makes sense if we are freeing up a quota spot to bring in someone like Hastings, Maloney or Joel Thompson, we keep Lunt for a season or 2 rotating him with Dwyer then hopefully Corey Johnson is near enough ready to be in the first team even if it's as our interchange hooker. I'd be happy to swap Lunt with Parcell if the idea was to free up a overseas spot for a top quality import.

I agree.
I'm just stating a principle the club should adhere too when signing aging players. As I wrote previously, giving Lunt a year and freeing cap and overseas space makes sense. Then we can assess Dwyer, Lunt and Johnson and take a longer view as Johnson will have another year and hopefully some SL game time under his belt.

| I can see the reason behind releasing Parcell to free up a quota space....but replacing him with Lunt
There’s a reason why Hull KR are prepared to let him go. They clearly see Parcel as an upgrade on Lunt (which is obvious) so why should we see it differently?
Fair doos if Powel was coming in as the new coach and bringing McShane back with him but the current version of Lunt is a massive downgrade and a backward step

| Maybe Lunt would fill in for rest of season and he will be cheap and big cap space freed up for next season

| If this rumour is right, I would see it more as an opportunity to get out of Parcell's contract amicably whilst freeing up valuable cap space and quota spot. Someone needs to take him if we're going to move on for 2020.
If Lunt comes the other way - he's a good character and could help with Johnson's development behind the scenes as well as giving some game time to ease the pressure on Dwyer.
Johnson looks the mid-long term solution here and it is a bit of a sticking plaster.

Not that I am wanting Lunt, far from it, but I can't see how it is a crazy one for us. We have wanted rid of Parcell all season to get off the cap and plan elsewhere. This allows that to happen. It could have just been take Parcell we don't need Lunt, but I don't see a problem for rest of season working with someone who can offer something in the dressing room at least.

| We've done OK without Parcel recently haven't we? Its not as though he sets the world on fire when he plays.
Lunt may be knocking on a bit but he might do more than Parcell in making up for our dire halfbacks. It would be a risk though as it would change the way we play. Can see arguments for and against, but if it means Parcel is off the cap next year it may be a good move longer term.
