Not that I am wanting Lunt, far from it, but I can't see how it is a crazy one for us. We have wanted rid of Parcell all season to get off the cap and plan elsewhere. This allows that to happen. It could have just been take Parcell we don't need Lunt, but I don't see a problem for rest of season working with someone who can offer something in the dressing room at least.
I didn’t mean crazy in terms of releasing Parcell....that makes sense if it is a way of or only way of freeing up a quota spot to bring say a Hastings in or Thompson...the crazy bit for me is the swap for Lunt who is a player in decline and the wrong age.
Hull KR clearly want rid for a reason and if he isn’t good enough for them he isn’t/shouldn’t be considered good enough for us...I’m sure you agree with me on that point?
If I was wanting a swap deal involving Parcell I’d be wanting someone who is going to strengthen us for a few years, whether that be in the hooking department or a player in a different position where we need strengthening.
The fact we only gave Dwyer a 1 year extension made me think we were going to be possibly bringing in another top line hooker to replace Parcell....The current version of Lunt is clearly not that hooker.
I assume the club see Johnson as the long term hooker so I don’t see the point in bringing Lunt in now. Either give Dwyer a longer deal or bring in a quality hooker instead.
I just don’t see what role Lunt will fill given he hardly seems to play these days and is of the wrong age. I thought the idea was that we were moving on from these older/injury prone players and going with youth or bringing in quality from outside? Lunt fills neither criteria for me.
