While I am not a massive Austin fan, losing him now without a replacement, coupled with Myler been ruled out, leaves us too much to do this season to have any impact if we make the playoffs. That is down to our inept performances earlier in the season. Smith did a great job last season but he has been found wanting this year.

So you dont think Sezer is on a decent wack and had been a regular in the NRL previously.
Doubt Hastings or Croft were/are on anymore as neither could get a regular gig in the NRL.
Where would we be had it not been for Caddicks backing.
If anything clubs like Salford, Wakey do quite well as many others like Huddersfield would not even exist without money bags behind them.

As I said earlier the buck stops with Gary and he was out of credit a long time ago. In the vast majority of organisations he would have been politely retired now.
As a club we are a laughing stock. Biggest fan base in the biggest city and the strongest commercial department. In theory we have all the advantages that other do not.
Austin did himself no favours and I can understand the decision but to not consult your head coach and discuss the ramifications of the decision then send him out alone to face the media is unforgivable. Hetherington should have been sat next to Rohan Smith taking questions rather than sending him to the wolves. Fair play to Smith being honest that he didn't know anything and was not consulted until this morning when the call had clearly already been made.

Possible Leeds move for Brodie Croft mentioned on the Wigan forum... I have the sense that it may be clutching at straws to put much hope in this!

Fair play to Smith indeed, he also just stopped short of naming GH too as I'm sure he wanted to protect him. Smith deserves better than that.

Yes as much as I have been one to think Smith was not up to the job, you have to respect him for that.
More than can be said for Gary who has acted in an unprofessional manner in regards to Smith.

I`m in favour of the club letting Austin know they won`t tolerate insubordination.
But to let him go when we still have an outside chance of getting into the playoffs with no consideration to the fans who spend good money supporting the club and not consulting with the head coach that he was prepared to let Austin go is a massive error of judgement by a man who is well past his usefulness.
But I`m sure GH will tell us we are building for the future as we have for 7 or 8 years now and when he has his jollies in Australia he will look to recruit the right players for the Whinos.
